15 days. 15 dogs. 185 miles.

November 2016

Our Chairman, Chris Wood, has recently taken part in a fundraising venture to help raise money for a charity very close to his heart.

Chris is a Trustee of Mast Cell Action, they are a charity set up to support people suffering from a newly recognised disease called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) – a complex disease affecting the body’s immune system.

As it’s a new charity, they were in need of funds to get the charity off the ground and become fully functional. Chris decided to raise funding through a sponsored 185 mile walk along the Thames Path over 15 days. He did this in memory of his dog Waffle and in conjunction with the UK’s leading dog walking organisation Tailster. Each day Chris was joined by a different canine companion – Lucy the Springer on day one, Scout the Border Terrier on day two, Duke the Pointer cross... the list goes on.

Chris managed to raise over £10,000 for Mast Cell Action, as well as raising awareness of the charity and the condition MCAS itself, through several radio and television interviews and articles in the local press.

A huge well done from us all Chris, such a fantastic achievement!
